In A Pit With A Lion

A mountain and a promise.

You are in a pit with a lion. What do you do?

Do you panic and freeze, or try to hide and cower in the corner?

No.

You will face that lion. With every breath you take it will remind you that the Lord is with you. He will not fail.

As the lion paces he licks his lips with a ravenous look of hunger in his eyes. He looks so confident. After all, he is the lion and you are but mere prey. And you are in a pit with no rope. You have no ladder to climb or person to get you out. The lion knows that you have nowhere to go and the smell of you makes his mouth water. He can smell the sweat drip from your forehead.

What do you do?

You stare that lion down with a fierceness that defies any potential fear shaking your bones. Every fiber in your being knows that God will save you. You crush any doubts within milliseconds of them entering your thoughts. You stand your ground.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

The lion slowly creeps closer. Closer still he comes until you can feel the heat of his breathe on your neck. He sniffs your hair.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

You begin to hear a low guttural noise and he rubs his mane up against you. Soon he is rubbing up against you, back and forth. Gently you move your hands up and begin to pet his glorious mane.

What is this? This hungry lion meant to eat you is now as friendly as a dog.

What was supposed to be for your ruin has been reversed. You must wait a while longer before you are pulled out of the pit with the lion.

There is grace in the waiting. What joy there is for the reversal of the plans of the enemy.

Now you can wait confidently expectant of victory in a pit with a lion!

Vital Choices

“The thoughts and decisions in your life can either control you or set you free.”

I have been missing my Mom lately because I wish I could talk with her about everything going on in my life right now. I know what she would say,

“Kara, you have a lot going on. It is good to cry. Do not be so hard on yourself. Please rest.”

Since she passed I often tell myself similar phrases as a reminder to give myself some grace and choose hope each day.

It is vital for me to choose hope and joy. If I allow my thoughts to focus inward and downward it could have the potential to sabatoge my life. When I choose hope, the impossibilities seem less daunting and I am trusting God to take care of every detail. Often I have found that I have had to fight for hope and learn this as a discipline.

I have chosen that despite the circumstances, I will live with faith for promises and find ways to laugh. Why? Because my God is good. He wants the best for me. He wants me healthy, healed and whole. Jesus did not come for me to be hopeless and downcast.

His joy is my strength!

In joy there is room for increasing hope. Because of this I enjoy life even when I may feel like weeping or when I would much rather stay in bed with a frown.

My decision to stay upbeat, positive and hopeful is a decision based on how much I know God loves me and is for me. Since I know this about Him I also know that He loves my family more than I do. I know He already stormed the gates of hell and made a way for each of us. He will never stop storming those gates! And if He will never stop storming those gates then I know that I can wait a little bit longer for victory while keeping a smile on my face. I can allow laughter to fill my belly while telling the devil to shut up anytime I may be downcast.

No matter what, God is still sovereign. God is still good. Despite anything I may be going through He never changes. He cannot be defeated. He is for me. He is for you.

His love is vast and deep. Jesus proved it.

This, my friends, is why I choose hope and joy. Life may feel a bit surreal but my God is real and mighty. Nothing can change the truth of who He is and what He is doing for those that love Him!

The Victory Life

What is your focus on?

Those that study the mind share scientific proof that whatever you focus on becomes a part of you. Whatever it is can become bigger and bigger until it is all consuming (whether true or false). Essentially what you dwell on, read, watch & post has become apart of your wiring in your brain. Whatever you spend the most time focusing on will generally dictate your responses or reactions to life.

When life gets difficult it can be easy for many to focus on those difficulties. Some of us hide. Others get busier. Or we get angry, sad and melancholy.

A victors life chooses to focus on victories rather than defeats or the potential of them. It does not matter what is going on in life, if you focus on joy and victory because of Jesus, there is nothing that can touch you. I am not saying that things won’t discourage you or tire you. But what I am saying is that you have what it takes to remain steadfast, to persevere and to praise God through it all.

No matter what you may be facing today pick up your joy. Pick up your hope.

God is for you.

Victory is yours because of Him.

Joy is your choice and that is something that can never be taken from you.

Choose the victory life.

The Not-So-Little Secret

I know that since the dawn of time individuals have been trying to make truth what they want. Somehow people think that if they just say something or feel something then that is what is true. Like a magic lamp and poof!, truth is what I say it is.

This is a big fat lie! Anyone that lives like this has an agenda whether they realize it or not. That agenda is this: “I get to live however I want and when I want no matter how it hurts others or hurts me. I do not care if it is an abomination to the Creator of love.”

Injustices occur all of the time. Sin destroys people.

Truth exists to set everyone free from the above.

If hatred, anger, vulgar talk, gossip and lies are coming out of your mouth like a venomous snake, let me tell you a not-so-little secret. Truth always wins. Lies will rise to the surface and light will expose what is malevolent.

Be ready to be exposed.

Your game can only be played for so long before justice comes running in to save the ones you are bent on destroying. Love wins. His name is Jesus, perfector of truth and savior for all.

Victory is here.

Slaying Giants

We are facing giants.

Everywhere we look one stands. It is our responsibility for us to take the land. We must be like Caleb who knew that it would be fine to move forward.

We know God has given us the promised land. It flows with milk, honey and blessings beyond what we could imagine.

The question is, “how do we move forward? How do we slay giants?”

We are so close. We are almost close enough to grasp it.

These giants may be loud, obnoxious and cocky but they don’t know what is coming. Let them shout. Let them laugh in our faces as we come to take what is ours.

We were meant to walk this path to show others that with God the impossible happens.

Roar of Justice

My little family of 3 is worth trudging through the mud for!

Due to our current dynamics (other blended families can relate) we often face ongoing challenges that require a good lifestyle of forgiveness, self-control, patience, joy, peace, kindness, goodness & love. Oh wait, you mean all families should require that too? Uh… Yeah!

Exclusion and slander have become just a normal thing we face on a regular basis (sadly by multiple people). The unfortunate part about this is that our daughter is the one that pays for it. I want to write a book about all of the ways that kids are getting damaged by selfish, deceitful adults who exclude, lie and slander those whose intentions are pure… So stayed tuned for several years about how selfish adults actions affect the next generation & ways to reverse the damage (insert wink emoji here for added light hearted effect which won’t work anyways).

I have reached a point where just pretending to put a smile on my face around these people is not good enough anymore. If you know anything about me I have always struggled when things are not complete, are not reconciled & when injustices continue to occur. I have also come to the realization that I have at times unknowingly partnered with the thief by just sitting back and allowing a heavy cloak of the wrong identity to be placed on me that was never mine. Consider this post a step to break free from the ongoing bondage I unknowingly partnered with.

Is my family worth it? Yes!

Will I continue to attempt to ensure that my family will be included and given time together that they deserve? Yes, just with a different attempt & with those that are in our lives to lift us up. I have every right to protect and guard those I love especially my own husband and daughter.

Here is to victory after victory!

Here is to triumph after triumph!

Hear the roar of justice! He is coming.

Winter is about to end.

The Unseen

Recently I was struck with a grand reality that I have realized before but it finally burried itself deep into my heart:

God takes care of you when you sleep. While you sleep He is taking care of things unseen.

Anything that you face He has you completely covered. We do not need to strive for control. We do not need to have all the solutions, finances or best plan because God already does.

This does not mean that we get to be lazy. Absolutely not. What it does mean is that as we submit ourselves to Him and allow Him to guide us, we can find rest amidst the battle.

At a service the other night the word, “refreshment” was spoken over me. Simply put, just like a soldier needs to come back to camp for food and water and rest, I would receive the same spiritual refreshment. It resonated with my soul because I had just asked the Lord to help me understand how to do this.

In a flash all these dots seemed to connect more and the truth about God became deeper rooted within me. He never tires. He never tarries. His timing is flawless. He knows what He is doing. Because He is good, He is trustworthy. Because He is love, He is faithful. Because He loves you, He will help you and make a way for you.

There are no buts, what ifs, maybes, or rugs waiting to be ripped from beneath you. God is not the culprit of either your bad choices or the bad choices from others. He is always the one to help you back up, to cry with you or to fiercely roar in the face of your enemy.

He is mighty!

He does not like it when others mess with His own.

There is justice for you.

He stands in front and behind to declare that you are His.

Warrior

Dear heart, arise and lift your head up.

Do you have the courage to face the day even amidst your darkest hour? When the battle is thick and a cloud of darkness is all you can see surrounding you, will you choose to be brave and press on?

The Lord, like a fierce lion is in pursuit. He sees you and your eyes lock. In His eyes you see victory and a love so fierce that fills your soul to continue pressing on through each assailant. In that instant, a light bursts forth ahead piercing the darkness.

Mighty God, the Lion of Judah, smashes every assailant in your path. He leads you to victory. His roar makes the whole earth tremble. Justice has just been dealt. Laughter echoes into the valleys. The waters and bubbling brooks dance with joy.

He lifts you up. You stand triumphant looking upon your enemies, every foe has been laid low. New breath fills your lungs.

Every ounce of blood and every fallen tear has been worth the journey to get here.

His roar brings victory. His breath restores life. His laughter scatters the rest of your enemies.

He has made you victorious!

In The Thick Of It

Are you waiting for promises?

The more I learn about perseverance the more I realize how much work goes into seeing promises come to fruition. If you are expecting a promise to just magically appear without any struggle or waiting period, you will be full of disappointment. Promises do not come without a battle. The bigger the promise the bigger the battle. On the same note the bigger the promise the bigger the victory will be.

While you are in the thick of it remember that God is faithful.

Expect a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. Anything worth having does not come easy. It will come with risks and challenges.

In my past I used to feel so defeated when month after month victory seemed so out of reach. Instead of seeing how close victory was I either complained, felt sorry for myself or put on pride and told God, “I got this now because obviously you are not doing anything.”

Lord, forgive me for those times! I could have chosen praise rather than believing the lie of defeat. I could have stood my ground. I could have laughed in the face of the enemy.

But that was the past.

Today I choose to stand my ground.

Today I choose joy.

Today I choose to rejoice in the goodness of the Lord.

Today I laugh in the face of the enemy.

I continue to laugh as he flees.

I laugh my way into victory!

Facing Victory

When one waits for a miracle to come to pass in what direction does that individual stand?

One stands facing towards victory no matter what opposition may come.

It can be too easy to dwell on the current circumstances where it can seem like nothing is changing. At some point it may even feel as if one has moved backwards rather than forward.

.

If this is where you are, stand facing victory.

This means you choose hope. On the days where it is hard to keep going, you expect victory to come whether there is anything significant to suggest otherwise. You get to choose to look at life through the lens of faith.

Stand facing victory.

Expect victory.

Do not look back (unless it is a joyful reflection). Do not dwell on that which does not increase your hope.

Victory is coming.

Victory is something the enemy can never touch unless you decide to hand it over to him (#can’ttouchthis).

Victory is here.
