Adventure!

It seems hard to be adventurous when we are told to stay home… So we took to the road and grabbed some lunch. We live in such a beautiful area! I am thankful for the rain that makes it all so green. Have you ever noticed all the different shades of green? God could have chosen just one color but He made so many!⁣

Have you also noticed how the trees bloom? Even as life has slowed it seems to have happened overnight. There is so much beauty all around us. The budding, coming to life, rebirth is happening all around us right now. ⁣

Birds sing such happy tunes. It is like surround sound song birds and chirps in my backyard. I could sit back there for hours. I need to figure out how to set up a writing station with power outside as well as get a hammock for writing breaks and naps… Or just to lay outside reading. This is truly one of my dreams come true. It may be one part of my adventure… The part where the entire world slows down for a moment. ⁣

Until life and freedoms restored, I will bask in the miracles happening around me. This is only part of the adventure!

Pure Enjoyment

Enjoying the adventures in our backyard together!

I have to admit that I have enjoyed the past month (even though it feels like two or three) in more ways than I have struggled with the changes it has brought. I have enjoyed the new and creative ways we have come together as a family. In many ways it has increased the love and connection that schedules and the busy often can decrease.

I have learned the value in boredom. Kids can return back to their imaginations more than before much like life used to be before phones, tablets and other electronics. Being a kid in the grass and roasting s’mores. Magical lands once again return to life. This was my favorite part of my childhood and I have to admit that I have returned a bit myself during the longer days and have written adventures again.

It is also okay to not have plans. Return to rest and learn what it means to relax together. Love grows in these moments if it is allowed to, even if there is tension with the unknown. Perhaps once life returns post covid19 we can keep these moments? I want the deeper connections to stay and magical lands to continue to grow.

What have you enjoyed during this time?

Content In The Moment

One of the things on my mind lately has been to fully enjoy today. It can be too easy to look ahead to tomorrow, next week or next month and get lost in the future. Worry can sneak in and steal your joy from today. ⁣

Our hope is not dependant on what happens tomorrow. Our hope comes from the Lord. ⁣

There are moments where it has felt like everything is at stake. There are moments of pain or difficulty that leave us wondering how we will support each other let alone ourselves. ⁣

Some of you have had your world turned upside down recently. Some of you have lost loved ones. Many of you are trying to figure out finances. It can be so easy to move forward into the future trying to make a plan on how to solve our losses.⁣

But Jesus shows us a different way. He says, “Do not worry about tomorrow” (Matt 6:34). He reassures us that He will take care of us. He even offers an invitation for those of us who are weary to come to Him (Matt 11:28-30).

Enjoy today. Laugh. See the good and dwell on those things. Be present.

Silence

This weekend we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. In between that was silence. Tension filled the air as Jesus’ followers awoke with devastation unable to comprehend His death.⁣

But God in great anticipation had a countdown going. He knew that a mighty conquering was occuring and victory was running towards humanity. While the people waited having only begun to grieve, to mourn the son of both God and man, silence settled as Jesus was about to breathe again. Even though Jesus had told them what was to come they still did not understand it. They knew the Messiah had come but nothing occured the way they had thought it would. ⁣

We are all in waiting right now. In our homes, on our own, we are waiting for our lives to go back to normal. But perhaps our lives are supposed to be resurrected? Maybe our lives are supposed to change to become better than before?⁣

There is beauty in the waiting. We may not know what it is going to look like but because Jesus defeated death and rose from that grave, we can be certain that what is waiting is full of victory, hope, joy! Could we view the silence, the waiting, a beautiful part of our journey to a great comeback where life is restored the way it should be and reconciliation has occured; where our pain has been healed and each of us has returned to love?⁣

Don’t you long for more? ⁣

The more is on the other side of the waiting, the silence, if one is willing to embrace the risen Savior. He has been waiting with great anticipation and joy for the day of resurrection… In your life. ⁣

Aren’t you ready? ⁣

It is time to stop ignoring the gentle whisper of love that will bring you freedom and heal your pain, Dear world. ⁣

You are loved more than you know.⁣

Empowered Focus

It is true that what one dwells on can consume them.⁣

I was reminded this morning to dwell on the good, especially the truths of God after hearing a very negative news report. The report hit me in the gut and left me feeling very heavy. It felt like it was an attempt to punch out a bit of hope that I’ve been clinging onto. Instantly when I recognized this occuring I began to remind myself of the truth of God’s goodness. I also decided not to watch or read any news the rest of today.⁣

What we dwell on matters. We can choose to have empowered focus, which leads us to live from hope while raising it’s banner for others to join us. We can choose joy despite our circumstances. Does it take grit? Yes, I think it does. Does it take effort? Yes. We cannot afford to be lazy right now. We must rally together and raise our hope banners high. ⁣

We need each other. Each of us are being secluded but that does not mean that we are alone. In fact, any attempt to segregate, tear apart or cause dissension right now can bring us together. It is my belief that our strength is only growing because of this. ⁣

Empower your focus by dwelling on the good. ⁣

What is one good thing that occured today? How can I pray for you and your family?⁣

You are not alone.⁣

My Favorite Place

Today I needed a change of scenery. I spent some great time in my art studio. When I begin to create in this space I often lose track of time. I get swept up in colors, ideas and feel so alive. ⁣

Joyful worship. When I create I feel close to God. This place becomes a sacred space. New breath enters my lungs. I can hear the birds chirping. Laughter drifts through the window from the neighbor kids. I step into the sun as I add a burst of blue paint. ⁣

Joy spills from my soul onto this canvas. ⁣

I am so grateful for this time. Even though life has stalled and the time frame is uncertain when it will return to “normal”, I have come to a place of acceptance. I accept this slowed pace and the closeness of my family. The time spent in the depths of God’s heart is irreplaceable, where I have no time-frame and no place to go. I can sit with Him all day if I want to or I can paint with Him. This is the new normal that I don’t want to change.⁣

What a gift it is. This is what I choose to focus on… God’s goodness and more of Him in my life. ❤️⁣

We Need A Savior

Today just like on the day Jesus came into town on a donkey we shout, Hosanna!⁣

We recognize we need you. Many of us have not felt a need for you until this virus made us realize that we’ve been governed by fear and death. We humble ourselves and acknowledge that we are nothing without you, Jesus.⁣

We need you.⁣

Hosanna! ⁣

Thank you Jesus for coming and showing us what love looks like. Thank you Jesus for saving us from our sins and delivering us from the depths of hell. ⁣

Hosanna!⁣
